Pit Bull Terrier - Duke - Large - Adult - Male - Dog
Duke is a muscular, solid 4 year old male Pit Bull Terrier. We claimed Duke from the Austin City dog pound after he was abandoned at an area apartment. Animal control officers in Austin picked him up from there and placed him into the dog pound. He's now been with the MCHS for an extended length of time and he actually seems to have settled in a bit to Shelter life. He weighs about 75 pounds and he is solid and tall for a Pit Bull. He loves to play ball and slosh around in the pool and sometimes both at the same time! He needs someone with bully breed experience and a willingness and capability to work with Duke’s strong need for exercise. Duke still needs to learn some basic obedience skills, but he has progressed quite a bit since we've had him at the Shelter. He has not been aggressive, but a dog of his size and strength poses quite a challenge when he has minimal manners or boundaries. He will not be adopted as an outdoor dog nor as a guard dog. Duke's adoption fee is $95. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request.
